Ways of the EarthWays of the Earth gatherings are held at the beginning of the season with each season having a unique rewilding Self focus. The Ways are designed to be accessible as a single event or as a season-long learning program for Earth Folk community.
Winter's Way is dreaming—exploring the Earth's dream.
Spring's Way is embodying—returning to lived experience within our bodies.
Summer's Way is expressing—engaging creatively with internal and external states of being.
Autumn's Way is knowing—connecting with our intellect, feeling, sensing, and intuition.
Councils & VigilsCouncils will be held once annually in the Summer. People will be given the opportunity to learn about a specific Pacific Northwest animal, plant, water system, etc. beforehand. During the council, we will combine the Ways of the Earth to communicate with and for those beings.
Vigils will be held once annually in the Winter. As the earth, water, and air continue to be polluted and as humans continue to destroy the very structures of continued life, we will hold space for grief, gratitude, reverence, and personal change. Both councils and vigils seek to create new ways of viewing and relating with the Earth. Earth Folk community will be able to determine themes/locations for these events. |
Earth CeremoniesEarth ceremonies are held at the height of each season in celebration of that season. Ceremonies are typically held in-person and outside (yes, even during the cold months) in a natural space. We share a seasonally themed activity, vegetarian meal, and ritual. The purpose of ritual is to create sacred (or conscious) space that acts as a safe container for deeper experience, thought, and connection. Most Earth ceremonies will include some level of creative expression, physical movement, introspection, and discussion/sharing (always to the amount you are comfortable). Earth Folk community will have the opportunity to design and/or lead components of the Earth ceremonies and take part in post-ritual discussion.
CommunityCreating Earth Folk Fellowship community has been a long-time goal of Earth Folk. While Earth Folk itself focuses primarily on cultivating environmental community, its broader goal is to promote identification and relationship (aka community) with all forms of life or, in other words, a rewilding of Society. To this end, the community component focuses on shared inner work and supported outer action.
